A night better than 83 years
Assalamu alikoum Akhi/ Ukhti,
One night can change everything.
Because Allah placed inside it a reward greater than 1,000 months.
That is more than 83 years.

SubhanAllah.
Just pause and think about that.
A person could spend an entire lifetime praying, giving charity, making dua…
And Allah has placed the reward of more than that… in ONE single night.
That is Laylatul Qadr.
And that is why the last 10 nights of Ramadan are not ordinary nights.
These are nights we should treat with care, attention, and hope.
“Laylatul Qadr is better than a thousand months.” (Surah Al-Qadr 97:3)
On Laylatul Qadr, every good deed carries the weight of a lifetime.
If you feed someone on that night, it is as if you fed someone for over 83 years.
If you prayed 2 rak’ahs on that night, it is as if you prayed them for over 83 years.
If you sincerely seek Allah’s forgiveness on that night, it is as if you spent over 83 years seeking His forgiveness.

Most people will never even live that long…
Yet Allah, out of His mercy, has placed that kind of reward in one single night.
So when is it?
What we know is that Laylatul Qadr is in the last 10 nights of Ramadan.
The Prophet ﷺ said:
“Look for the Night of Qadr in the last ten nights of the month of Ramadan.” (Sahih al-Bukhari 2020)
And yes, the odd nights carry special emphasis.
But if one of these 10 nights holds the reward of a lifetime…
Why would you risk missing it?
That is why we should honour every one of the last 10 nights.

So the goal is simple…
Do not let ANY of these nights pass without turning to Allah.
To make that practical, here are 3 things to keep in mind.
1. In your worship:
Pray more.
Read more Qur’an.
Make more dua.
Give more charity.
2. In your dua:
Ask Allah for forgiveness.
Ask Allah for guidance.
Ask Allah for rizq.
Ask Allah for Jannah and to protect you from the Fire.
3. And most importantly:
Do not overcomplicate it.
Even if the worship feels small.
Even if the dua is short.
Just make sure you turn to Allah.
And do it with hope.
In Hadith Qudsi, Allah said: “O son of Adam, so long as you call upon Me and hope in Me, I shall forgive you… even if your sins were to reach the clouds” (Tirmidhi, Sunan Tirmidhi, Hadith: 3540).

And one more thing we should remember…
Not everyone gets another Ramadan.
Not everyone gets another last 10 nights.
So if Allah has allowed us to reach these nights, we should meet them with gratitude.
Because Allah has opened a door for us.
A door that can change our akhirah forever.
So do not let these nights pass like ordinary nights.
Protect and honour them.
And fill them with as much worship as you can.
May Allah allow us to witness Laylatul Qadr.
May Allah allow us to worship Him well in these last 10 nights.
May Allah accept our salah, our dua, our charity, and our tawbah.
May Allah forgive and have mercy on those who are no longer with us.
Barakallahufik,
Mudassir
